Geocache Description:

November 16th | 10am - 3:30pm | Herman B Wells Library Lobby

November 16th is International GIS Day, which is a day to celebrate the many uses of GPS technologies. The Geocaching Club at IU and Bloomington Geocachers will be celebrating with an event at the Wells Library on the IU Bloomington campus. We'll have a booth setup during this time to share our favorite hobby with potential newcomers!

Geocaching Contest

Begins: Monday October 31st at 12:00pm
Ends: Sunday November 20th at 11:59pm.

Six geocaches have been hidden on IU's campus. Those who find all of the caches will be entered to win a $50 VISA card (to be used at any location where VISA is accepted) thanks to our event sponsor: 39 Degrees North.

Players have three weeks to find all six caches.

All information about the caches and the challenge is posted on our club's website: http://www.indiana.edu/~geocache

More Event Details
We will also have GPS units available to be checked out by those new to geocaching to give it a try. Stop by any time between 10am and 3:30pm to learn about geocaching, meet some geocachers from our two local groups (Bloomington Geocachers and the Geocaching Club at IU), hear about upcoming geocaching events and find some geocaches that were specifically placed for the event! While there, you will have the opportunity to see a few displays about other GPS and GIS technologies that are being used by members of the Bloomington community and some of the departments at IU. It will give you the opportunity to learn about other ways you could use your GPS unit besides geocaching. Check out the GIS Day at IU website to learn more about the many exciting activities and displays going on for GIS Day.

Parking
There is visitor parking available at the meters in the library parking lot or at either of the nearby parking garages. Unfortunately, as with any event on campus, there is a parking fee.
