[PL] U zbiegu ulicy Walowej i Lagiewnickiej znajduje sie piekny neogotycki budynek mieszczacy Biblioteke Gdanska
Zostal on wzniesiony w latach 1900-1905 wedlug projektu Karla Kleefelda, specjalnie dla potrzeb biblioteki (wówczas Biblioteke Miejska - Danziger Stadtbibliothek), która od poczatków swego istnienia siegajacego 1596 roku, jako Bibliotheca Senatus Gedanensis miescila sie w kilku róznych miejscach - mniej lub bardziej przystosowanych do celów bibliotecznych.
Najbardziej reprezentatywnym fragmentem budynku jest sciana z glównym wejsciem od rogu ulic, ale równiez oba skrzydla wyrózniaja sie bogata ornamentyka, m. in. fryzem z herbami gdanskich rodów, zasluzonych dla Biblioteki.

[EN] At the junction of the street Lagiewnicka and Walowa, is situated a beautiful neo-Gothic building. It houses the Library of Gdansk (full name: Gdansk Library of Polish Academy of Sciences).
The building was constructed in the years 1900-1905 according to Karl Kleefeld project, specifically for the needs of the library (at the time Danziger Stadtbibliothek - City Library), which from the beginnings of its existence dating back to 1596, as the Bibliotheca Senatus Gedanensis, was located in several different places - more or less adapted for library purposes.
The most representative part of the building is a wall of the main entrance from the corner, but also both wings are characterized by rich ornamentation.

In the middle only just logbook, so please bring something to write.

Atentnion! Due to the nearby high school, I recommend seeking in the afternoons and weekends or school holidays.
