Geocache Description:

11-11-11 Multi Event: Perth, Australia

After the surprising success of 9/9/9 and the huge attendance of 10/10/10
this year for 11/11/11 we have decided to go a little more low key and make
it a true meet and greet.. also my wallet has not quiet recovered from last year,
but be assured 12/12/12 will see the return of the quiz and assorted goodies
we had so much fun delivering last year

Remembrance Day

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries to remember the members of their armed forces who have died on duty since World War I. This day, or alternative dates, are also recognized as special days for war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the official end of World War I on that date in 1918, as the major hostilities of World War I were formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. (Note that "at the 11th hour" refers to the passing of the 11th hour, or 11:00 a.m.)

The day was specifically dedicated by King George V, on 7 November 1919, to the observance of members of the armed forces who were killed during World War I. This was possibly done upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey to Wellesley Tudor Pole, who established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917.[1]

The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem In Flanders Fields. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilt in the war.

Come to one of the two events being held this year on this date,
to catch up with fellow cachers, have a beer and a bite to eat if you like.
The two event times are to help cater to those who have to work, as it is a Friday.

One event in the Morning so we can observer the minute silence at 11am. and we can all note later on where we were at 11:11 on the 11/11/11
The later time for those to pop in after work and enjoy what we hope is a mild evening out on the grass a couple of pints & some great pub food after if you like.

The events will both be held at
The Elizabethan Village Pub

Morning event
10:30 start
25 Canns Rd, Bedfordale

A very nice venue with great gardens, a big grassed area with gazebo they have said we may use.
Booking if you plan to eat would be a good idea to avoid a long wait, but I have said I will let them know numbers to help in staffing.

There is a coin!
As previous years there is a coin to celebrate the 50+ events happening around the globe on this date. Once again we have our own colour
combination for our little event that will not be available anywhere else. Cost will be in line with the event theme and be priced at $11 dollars.
Should all coins be sold the small profit will be used to cover the costs of the previous years event.

The coin has a large poppy to mark the date and is fully trackable on GC.Com. So you may wish to activate it and send it traveling or keep it at home as a souvenir of the event.

The Real Deal

When logging an attendance please mark down number of cachers in your group, if you would like a coin(s) reserved
and if you will be eating so we can let the village know how many to expect for staffing levels. - Thanks
