Geocache Description:

It’s unlikely that day visitors and will be able to park at Waterside campsite as parking is very limited, so I recommend leaving your car at the Jubilee Fields parking waypoint. When you leave the car park, turn left and take the second turning on the right which is called Moorhen Avenue (see waypoint). Continue along this private road until the waypoint shown which marks the start of a permissive footpath to the seawall and then just follow the footpath to the campsite.

*****WATERSIDE HOLIDAY PARK NOW FULL - ALTERNATIVE AVAILABLE - SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS***** There is a site called Steeple Bay Holiday Park, which is only a few miles from St Lawrence Bay and is also on the route of a cache walk being organised for the event. Costs vary depending on how many people are coming so it's best to call the site direct on 01621 773991 and ask for Jessica. Other counties have had a Geocaching Camping Event for a few years now, so I thought it was high time that we had one in Essex which will be held over 2 nights on the weekend of 25-27^th May 2012.

I’ve selected a site called Waterside Holiday Park in St Lawrence Bay that has extensive facilities which includes a small pool for the little ones. Details can be found on the related web page but the address is as follows:

I will use this event to launch a major new series of caches that will start from the site and take you on a circular walk along the river and you never know, it may include a pub or two along the way!

The site has a total of 44 pitches with electric hook-up and 9 without and there is a limit 6 people per pitch in one tent/caravan etc. Dogs are welcome although it will cost you £1 per night per dog in addition to the costs below.

With Electric hook-up - £10.00 per night

Without Electric hook-up - £9.00 per night

You have to vacate your pitch by 10:00am on Sunday however, if you wish to stay until 5:00pm (as I will), it will cost you an additional £5.60 which is payable on the day.

No commercial vehicles are allowed on the site but you can leave them in the main car park once you’ve unloaded. Entrance to the site is via a key fob operated barrier and there is a £20 deposit which is refunded when you return the fob to reception at the end of your stay.

Unfortunately they won’t reserve pitches for us without me leaving a substantial deposit so I’m afraid it’s first come first served so book now to avoid disappointment and get your discount.

Please call the site direct on 01621 779248 and ask for Lisa, tell her you are taking part in the Geocaching Event and she will make sure we are all together as much as possible but for safety reasons, there must be a minimum distance of 6m between each tent/caravan etc.

If camping/caravanning is not your thing, they have mobile homes available to hire but the minimum booking period is for 3 nights from Friday to Monday and costs for a 6 berth home start from £155 (£180 for bookings from the 1^st Nov), just ask Holly for details.
