In 2010 the West Highland Way, the challenging long distance walk covering some 95 miles between Milngavie in the outskirts of Glasgow and Fort William, became an extra mile longer.
Ordinarily, you might think that 95 miles was long enough, and why should you bother with yet another blister inducing, weary leg wobbling mile. But it does mean that all the thousands of people attemping the WHW have to walk through the town centre. Handy, eh?!
The west end of the town's High Street has been 'refurbished' and a walker with sore feet keeps a watchful eye on the official finish line of the West Highland Way.
