Geocache Description:

These caches have been set to celebrate my 40th Birthday. One for every year of my life. The cache container is: blue mint box

Kilauea began (slowly) erupting and is still flowing to date. In music: another birthday number one cum best selling singlke of the year in Culture Club's Karma Chameleon; The Flying Pickets are Christmas number one with Only You; Michael JHackson's Billie Jean only spends one week in the top slot (only one other single this year shares this fate). Also in 1983: seatbelts (in front) become compulsory; breakfast time TV launches; UK experiences red rain caused by sand from the Sahara in the droplets; £1 coin introduced.
