1972 .. was a leap year and two leap seconds were added to UTC. Music I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony) was the first number one of the new year; Amazing Grace by the Royal Scots Dragoon Gaurds is the best selling single of the year; Stu's birthday number one is David Cassidy's How Can I Be Sure; School's Out for Alice Cooper. Also in 1972: state of emergency over a miners' strike; the Winter Olympics are held in Sapporo, Japan; its the end of the trolleybus; The Godfather is released; Watergate; Summer Olympics Munich, West Germany (Munich massacre); Atari release Pong.
