Cache drive-in. Situada na estrada entre o Paul da Serra e o Porto Moniz - Ilha da Madeira.
PT A cache foi aqui colocada para os geocachers conhecerem a Levada do Moinho. Este trilho inicia-se na estrada regional E.R.101, junto à Ribeira da Cruz mas também podem faze-la através das Portas da Vila local onde se encontra a cache. A partir da estrada tem de subir uma vereda até atingir a levada. Caminhando no sentido contrário ao das águas poderá visitar uma das nascentes que abastece esta levada. A Levada Grande ou do Moinho é assim conhecida por, ao longo do seu trajecto, terem existido vários moinhos de água, dos quais se encontram as ruínas de três (moinho das Achadas, moinho das Cancelas e moinho da Levada Grande). Esta é uma levada de “heréus”, isto é, foi construída a expensas dos seus utilizadores e só eles tinham direito ao seu uso. A levada regava toda a zona do Pico Alto, abrangendo a Fajã do Nunes, grande parte da Vila, Fajã do Barro, Fajã dos Barbusanos e Arrudal, e durante todo o seu percurso não era permitido o uso de outras águas de poços ou nascentes a montante. No sítio do Pico Alto existe um lugar na levada conhecido por Anel. Nesse local foi construído, um furo que desviava uma pequena quantidade de água para uso de duas senhoras leprosas que ali viviam, para que estas não contaminassem toda a água da levada. Mais tarde, e aproveitando esse furo, foi construído o poço do Anel que rega parte dos terrenos do Pico Alto. Conta o povo que a última nascente aproveitada foi a de Madre de Água, que nasce no lado da serra da Ponta do Pargo, no concelho da Calheta. Nesse local, aquando da reconstrução da levada, encontraram-se os “heréus” da Levada do Moinho e os “heréus” da Levada da Ponta do Pargo, causando problemas na construção da ligação àquela nascente.Tendo os Portimonizenses levado figos para a merenda, prontamente ofereceram os apetitosos frutos aos Pargueiros, alertando-os para o facto de que não deveriam comer as sementes que eram venenosas. Assim, enquanto os Pargueiros estavam distraídos a separar as sementes dos figos, os Portimonizenses fizeram uma pequena levada que ligou a nascente de Madre de Água à levada do Moinho. É de realçar o calcetamento do fundo de algumas secções da levada, feito no intuito de impermeabilizar as zonas onde a água se perdia. se a quiserem fazer são apenas 7 km!!! A dificuldade 3 é só porque o sinal GPS é fraco e os geocachers tem de procura-la e bem... ENGLISH The cache was placed here for geocachers know the Levada do Moinho.
