Church Micro 1298 Layham Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hanoosh: As this cache appears not to have been found for some time now and it is evident the CO is no longer caching having not logged on for more than three years, I am archiving it.

Geocache Description:

One of 3 churches in the Hadleigh Benefice, St Andrew's was built around 1300, in stone and flint. The tower was rebuilt in 1742, using local brick but the nave arch of the original 13/14th century tower remains. The original flint and stone outer walls of the nave and chancel also survive.

Although the interior is essentially Victorian, there are several medieval features, in particular the 13th century font.

St Andrew's Church is situated in Lower Layham, with no direct vehicle access from Upper Layham - easiest vehicle access between Upper and Lower Layham is via Hadleigh. Please note there is no parking at the church itself, there is one space in front of the village hall.
However, pedestrians/cyclists travelling from Upper Layham can use the footbridge by Layham Mill to cross the river Brett, and follow the path and lane leading to the Village Hall and Church. Beware though after heavy rain that this path does occasionally flood. This is buggy and wheelchair friendly as the terrain is just tarmac, however, there are no paths around the church, and it is situated on a corner. The road is not particularly busy, but please take care.

Wheelchair users may require some assistance in retrieving cache. Please bring your own pen!

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list.

This cache is placed with kind permission of the Hadleigh Benefice.

Congratulations to bison677 on your FTF :-)
