So ‘n vliegtuig benodig ten minste 3200 meter.

In 1903, the Wright Brothers built the first flyable airplane. And they flew it, if only for a short distance.

In 2004 a short distance was also all there was when the SAA Boeing 747-244, ZS-SAN, or “Lebombo” was parked at its last resting place at Rand Airport in Germiston. In 2006 another 747 followed: “Maluti.” Today the two are mere museum pieces, parked forever at the airport in Germiston. They will never fly again, not only because they are old, but also because the 1493 meter-long runway will not facilitate another take-off. It was almost too short for the landing… For takeoff, the 747 needs at least 3200 meter.

If you find this micro cache, you will have a good view of the two retired “Wright Brothers.” Retired, but still impressive to look at.

Cache placed with my friends Flitslig 2 - thanks for your help and idea! And for Strykplank for introducing us bunch to geocaching.
