Long back road drive
to reach the takeoff point for the first stage. Then a moderate
hike to the top of Rugged Mesa. The second stage hike is more
difficult. There are no trails for these hikes. Footing is uneven
and rocky. Stiff soled boots are your friend here. Navigation is by
GPS and by reading the topography of the land before you. I hiked a
little under 6 miles total to place the two stages. Your mileage
may vary depending on chosen parking. The first cache is a small
tin. The second cache is a standard .30 caliber ammo
can.
