O Sítio dos Salgados, segundo conta o povo, foi o lugar que deu origem ao que é hoje a freguesia da Camacha. Este é um dos locais mais a Sul da Camacha, e é considerado por muitos um santuário natural. Neste lugar a natureza mantém-se num excelente estado de conservação.

[ENG]It is believed that, Sítio dos Salgados is the origin of what is now the parish of Camacha. This is the most southern place of Camacha, and is considered by many a nature sanctuary. The nature of this place remains in excellent condition.

Segundo a história, havia neste local uma pequena Capela dedicada a São Lourenço, que se diz ter sido construída por Francisco Gonçalves Salgado, daí se ter dado o nome do sítio dos Salgados. Nesta Capela estabeleceu-se a sede paroquial da Camacha, quando esta foi desmembrada do Caniço. Nada é sabido acerca do ano e local em que se ergueu a pequena ermida. Por outra parte em 1746 esta capela já se encontrava em adiantado estado de ruína.[ENG]According to history, this place had a small chapel dedicated to São Lourenço, which is said to have been built by Francisco Gonçalves Salgado, giving it the name of the Sítio dos Salgados. This Chapel was established in the parish of Camacha, when Camacha was split from Caniço. Nothing is known about the years and where they stood a small chapel. On the other hand in 1746 the chapel was already in an advanced state of disrepair.

Nas proximidades da Capela, existe também uma Casa Senhorial com cantaria.Esta casa pertencia a uma família de seu nome Camacho e que foi a partir daí que surgiu o nome da freguesia da Camacha. O sítio dos Salgados, não deixa esconder um certo vislumbre pelo passado da freguesia. O núcleo de casas que o compõe é verdadeiramente espantoso. Encaixadas nos poios que as suportam, revelam uma homogeneidade única, razão pela qual deveria merecer um plano de salvaguarda patrimonial. Actualmente, nesta espécie de aldeia habitam apenas 6 famílias, que vivem essencialmente da agricultura.[ENG]Near the chapel, there is also a manor house with reddish basalt stone .This house belonged to a family called Camacho and it was from there that came the name of the parish of Camacha. The Sítio dos Salgados, does not hide a true glimpse into the past of the parish. The village is constituted by houses that are truly amazing. Embedded in the “ Poios” that support them, revealing a unique homogeneous, which should deserve a patrimony protection plan. Currently, this kind of village is inhabited by only 6 families, who live mainly from agriculture.

Como chegar ao Sítio dos Salgados?/ How to get to Sítio dos Salgados

O percurso mais próximo é ir ao encontro do centro da vila da Camacha, e depois de passar a igreja irá encontrar uma rua à direita, o Caminho Municipal dos Salgados, onde deverá seguir sempre a descer seguindo posteriormente pelo Caminho do Lombo Centeio, no fim desse caminho deve virar à esquerda e seguir até ao Parking Area.[ENG]The nearest route is to find the center of the village of Camacha, and after passing the church you will find a street on the first right, called Caminho Municipal dos Salgados, and then get down that street to Caminho do Centeio and at the end of it turn left and follow until the Parking Area.

O Tesouro dos Salgados/ Salgado's Treasure

O último herdeiro da família dos Salgados, escondeu um tesouro nas proximidades da Capela que o próprio ergueu, no entanto, a capela deixou de existir e o tesouro encontra-se actualmente perdido nesta pequena e antiga aldeia.[ENG]The last heir of the family of Salgados, hid a treasure in the area by the chapel, however, the chapel does not exist anymore and the treasure is now lost in this small and ancient village.
