Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the GOLD COAST POWER TRAIL.

A joint initiative by a group of local Gold Coast
cachers.

Each cache is themed on a critter indigenous to the Gold Coast.

Most of the containers are small golden cache tubes with a logbook only and should be easy to find.

However, each participating cacher has one hide which may be more difficult!

This cache is named after a native Gold Coast bird called the "Azure Kingfisher".

The Azure Kingfisher (Alcedo Azurea) is a very colourful bird, with deep blue to azure back, a large white to buff spot on side of neck and throat, rufous-buff with some blue-violet streaks on breast and flanks. Often difficult to see until it quickly darts from a perch above water, It feeds on yabbies and small fish. It nests in a chamber up to 1 metre long in sandy banks laying 5-7 white, rounded, glossy eggs. Voice is a high-pitched, shrill, 'pseet-pseet'.

You may get lucky and catch a glimpse of this fabulous little bird during your walk.
