Geocache Description:

This could be classed as a series for lazy cachers! If you don't want a long walk or bike ride, this series could be right up your street.

You could easily do all of the series in one day, if you are driving. The route we took was about a 30 mile drive. You could, of course, do the caches separately, whilst doing other caches in the area.

If you do the caches separately then make sure you keep a note of the answers to the clues - you will need these for the bonus cache.

SERIES DESCRIPTION
We have wondered for a while why it is, that whenever we go on holiday, we always have a nosy in the local church, yet the only time we'd dream of visiting one closer to home would be for a christening, wedding or funeral.

There are some beautiful churches in some lovely settings in the villages around Tamworth and this series will take you to a number of them. Unfortunately, the majority were found to be locked when we visited, which is a shame, but the villages and the churchyards are still worth a visit.

Also, you do tend to find that every nice church comes with an equally attractive pub, many of which we tried out for lunch whilst setting up this series of caches.

The co-ordinates given are for the caches, none of which are actually hidden in the churchyards. Some are on the boundary of the churchyard, some close by, some a short walk and one, a short drive. There is also a clue to collect within the churchyard close to each cache.

The caches are a variety of sizes and we have tried to be creative where we can. Some of them are replications of other good caches that we've seen. If we've copied any that you have set yourselves then please take this is a compliment. Some are big enough to hold swaps and some only hold a log sheet.

Whilst there are no co-ordinates given for the clues, they are all easy to find and won't involve you needing to yomp through gravestones or to enter the church.

If you collect the full 10 clues you will be able to find the bonus cache, which is hidden in a place where we visited not long after we'd met and where we took the first photo of us together - ahhhh!

We hope you enjoy the series.

CHURCH DESCRIPTION
St Mary’s Church in Grendon stands alone as a monument to a lost time, when the land was owned by the Lords of the Manor, who commanded power over the landscape and the people who lived, worked and worshipped within it. The church lies on the edge of a great park that once housed a now lost manor house. It is here that generations of the Chetwynd family were raised, and it is their story that the church tells, through the monuments and decoration in its vast interior. Stories that tell of family unity and of the scandal of the eloping Victorian lady.

CACHE DESCRIPTION
This cache is a nano hidden on the boundary of the churchyard. There is only room for a log sheet. You will need to take your own pen or pencil.

CLUE FOR BONUS CACHE
There is a seat in the graveyard commemorating the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. It was purchased by surplus coronation funds. What is the 3rd digit in the year of the Coronation? = J
