Due the generosity of sponsors, P&K council and Big Tree
Country ,and fundraising by many others , there were excess monies
remaining after all the Mega 2010 expences had been covered . In
accordance with our constitution , this was divided amongst
charities / organisations benefiting cachers, additionally we
wanted to " Give Something Back " to the area which had hosted the
event.
The option we chose was to create a permanent record of the
first Mega event in Scotland , and to remember the greatly
respected cacher "Billy Twigger " (Ewan Rice 1958-2009) who
ultimately lost his life following injuries sustained whilst
placing a geocache.
The committee of Aitken's Arboretum were approached , and
together the bench was funded , its on Kinnoull Hill Perth amongst
some wonderful walks and beautiful woodland with a pleathora of
caches permission courtesy of P& K council; Big Tree Country
and the Arboretum Trust.
