Meet, Pie Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Steve-e-b: Time to send this one to the geocaching.com vaults.
One last chance to thank The Webbies who supplied the tin of chocs for the raffle; The Strangler and The Als for their photos; and to everyone for coming along and joining our mad-cap afternoon.
We enjoyed organising the new caches. We're glad everyone enjoyed finding them.

Geocache Description:

Another chance to meet up, eat wonderful pies and do some geocaching, of course!

Saturday 8th October 2011
12 pm
Fleur de Lys pub in Lowsonford

(famous for its pies)

Arriving by car ...

There's limited space on the tarmac section of the car park so the landlady has asked us to fill up the car park from the top (north) end, starting on this grassy field which is on the left when you enter through the north gate.
The ground here is ash soil and should remain firm even if it has been raining heavily.

The landlord has agreed for people to use the car park before the pub opens but please be aware that the pub will remain closed until 11am. The toilets will not be accessible before that time.

I'm planning 7 new caches for the event ...

5 traditional caches that make a short circular walk.
The route is 2 ¼ miles starting at the pub and can be made to incorporate other caches in Lowsonford.
Alternatively, the eager beavers amongst you (you know who you are) can bag these before the event as part of the "On the Catwalk" series. The two series combined are a walk of 4 miles and 14 caches, starting at Yarningdale Common.
These new caches have been published:

2 puzzle caches will be released during the event.
These are lateral thinking puzzles - no specialist knowledge or internet access for googling information will be required.
You can team up or solve the puzzles solo. Hints will be available at the appropriate time (hopefully they won't be necessary).

2 new challenges
For those apprehensive or sceptical about getting involved in challenges this is a good opportunity to experience them as part of a group.

There will also be some fund raising for the Mega event.
Unfortunately the skittle alley won't be available for a bowling competition; however there will be a raffle with various prizes.

Order of Play

  • Doors open at 11 am
(You can arrive and park in the pub car park before then but the pub will not be open and the toilets will not be available.)
  • Event formally starts at 12 pm
  • Food is served from 12 pm
  • Puzzle caches will be released at 1 pm
  • Raffle draw at 3 pm
The call for food requests is now closed.
Don't panic! If you haven't posted a "will attend" you can still come along, drink the beer, join in and have fun!
