Geocache Description:

Loch Morlich is a kettle hole formed after the last ice age (see Teuchters' Loch Morlich earthcache- GC11FNT for more info) and today provides many attractions to all types of people. The beach
The View Across the Loch Looking North
has often been described as the best beach in the Cairngorms- and it certainly delivers on that front. The loch also has many, many tracks and footpaths surrounding it which are always popular with walkers, mountain bikers, pony Trekkers and of course: our four legged furry friends! The loch also provides a haven for kayakers, canoeists and sailors- there literally are endless possibilities!

'Morlich Point' as we call it, is the 'bit of land which sticks out into the loch'- that's the simple way of putting it!

Loch Morlich is a fantastic location for both tourists and as a quick walk for the GeoDogs- of, a family day out for kids- the beauty of the loch is, as mentioned above, that you can make what you want of it: you can stay around it, like above, or if you want more extreme challenges- you can head off into the Lhairig Ghru and, if you're feeling up to it, up and onto Ben Macdui or Cairngorm- all from the loch.

The point is a great (however often water-enthusiast rich) place to land and just watch the time pass by. We regularly waste time however when we are all here... it's a different story and especially on a quiet day it's just B.E.Autiful and take this opportunity to make camp (not literally as it's not allowed) on the point and just sit for a few minutes taking it all in and just sitting staring across the loch. The 'point' itself is where the river joins the loch, despite it being a "Kettlehole".

The cache is a tupperware box of a medium size and is fairly well hidden- could you please ensure when replacing it is as you found it- with all of the camo and heather etc. back ontop and around it. You'll also need to watch out for muggles as, with there being lots of paths there are lots of them and they often just sneak up sometimes- please just be aware!

I hope you enjoy the location- and a final personal request- I enjoy reading your logs, so cold you please post something more than a one liner of 'TFTC TNLN SL' etc. Photos would also be a really nice surprise!

A huge thanks must go to the Forestry Commission (Brian Duff in particular) for letting me place the cache. As well as an even bigger one (round of applause included) goes to Duncan and his team of dunk090 for maintaining my caches when I'm not around- thanks dunk090!

Happy hunting!
