Geolympix Banbury Cross Webcam-Flash Flash-Mob Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of flashmob events, but it's still with a heavy-heart that I archive this one. Why and why, you ask? Because a flashmob which moves on to a pub would be better held in a pub, to my mind, but this event needed to be over in a hurry, as people hot-footed it to their cars, two cache types/icons in their pocket, but nine more to get! The reason I'm sad to archive it is that, for 15 crazy minutes (extra craziness when the coach arrived to block the webcam's view. I saw something of the mob in the 300+ folk gathered here then. Had the driver not moved on quickly, I could easily imagine pitchforks and flaming torches being produced) Banbury was not so far from hosting an out-door Mega Flashmob! A real buzz of expectation and fun in the air, great help from the people who had stewarding status thrust upon them and a strong sense of the caching community coming together... to do something pretty ridiculous for 8am on a Sunday morning! Massive thanks to everyone who came along, joined in and helped kick G-Day off in amazing style. [:D]

For people after an 11-in-11 souvenir, Groundspeak have confirmed they won't be releasing one, so here's one I prepared earlier: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/large/6ada25ef-4f7d-4fbc-bcfb-dc9c341ac4d6.jpg - You can add it to your profile by adapting the HTML seen here http://www.geolympix.com/how.html

Since a whole month has passed since this memorable meet - how?! - it's time to archive it. We're looking to make a photo book of the best pictures from the Geolympix programme, so please send your best shots to team@geolympix.com and you could win a copy.

Cheers again and see you all again for Geolympix 2013? (location TBC!)
