Der Prallhang bei Schongau ein Bayrisches Geotop - The undercut
bank at Schongau a Bavarian geotope
Der Prallhang bei Schongau ist gelistet als Geotop Nummer 190R011
im Geotopkataster des Bayrischen Landesamts für Umwelt.
Entstanden ist er durch den ehemaligen Lechgletscher an der
Lechschleife. Neben der geologischen Besonderheit ist dieser
Flecken auch mit einer überaus üppigen Fauna ein interressantes
Ziel für viele Leute. Der schöne Ausblick auf Schongau und die
Alpen tut sein übriges.
Aufeinanderfolgende Flussschlingen werden in der Fachsprache als
Mäander bezeichnet. Die Entstehung eines Prallhangs wird durch
Strömungsverhältnisse sowie Kräfte innerhalb des vorbeiströmenden
Wassers hervorgerufen. Auf der linken Talseite befindet sich
gegenüber dem Prallhang der Gleithang. Dieser wurde durch
Sedimentablagerungen geschaffen. Heute ist hier eine fruchtbare
Lösslehmauflage vorhanden. Sedimantablagerungen enstehen durch die
Zentripedalkraft der Wasserteilchen und eine schraubenförmige
Strömung im Wasser.
Bei N 47° 49.497 E 010° 53.790 findet ihr eine Infotafel.
Dort könnt ihr viel Wissenswertes erfahren. Auch bei der
Beantwortung der Aufgaben ist es behilflich.
Macht euch nun auf den Weg entlang des Prallhangs in Richtung N
47° 49.284 E 010° 53.358.
Hier könnt ihr die Wegbegleiter bewundern und die Aussicht
genießen.
Entlang dieses Weges kommt Ihr an der Cachekoordinate N 47°
49.517 E 010° 53.696 vorbei. Blickt in Richtung Schongau und
genießt den Ausblick (Schönes Wetter vorausgesetzt.
Weiter gehts entlang des Weges bis man zu mit einem Kreuz
"gekennzeichneten" Stelle ankommt. Seht euch hier gut um.
Zu den Aufgaben:

- Wurde der "Prallhang" bei der Cachekoordinate durch den
schnell oder den langsam fließenden Teil des Flusses geformt?
- Die Beschaffenheit des Prallhangs macht intensive Landwirtschaft
unmöglich. Warum?
- Woran kann man Heute noch erkennen, dass es sich um einen
"Prallhang" und nicht einfach um eine Böschung handelt?

Macht nun bitte ein Foto von euch, oder wenn ihr kein persönliches
Bild hochladen wollt, zumindest eins mit eurem GPS und dem
Prallhang im Hintergrund bei den Cachekoordinaten oder bei einem
der Beispiele. Bitte kein Foto an der Infotafel, oder zumindest so,
dass man es nicht lesen kann! Hänge dann bitte auch dieses Foto an
dein Log an.

This long sloping bank at Schongau is listed as Bavarian geotope
number 190R011 at the geotopical cadastral land register of the
Bavarian state office for environment.
This long sloping bank (Lech loop) was created by the Lech
glaciers. In addition to the geological features this spot is very
rich in fauna, a large percentage of Bavarian plants can be found
here, and therefore attracts many visitors. The beautiful view
towards the Alps with Schongau and the "Lech loop" in the
foreground makes a visit worthwhile.
Successive flow loops are called meander. Flow conditions and
forces in the passing waterflow are responsible for the development
of this undercut slope. You can see the slip-off slope on the left
side opposite to the undercut slope. The slip off slope was created
by sediment depositions. Today, there is a rank loess clay.
Depositions were caused by centripetal force of water particles and
a spiral flow in the water.
At N 47° 49.497 E 010° 53.790 you will find an information
board. There you can discover more details. The information found
will also help in answering the questions.
Proceed around the bank on the pathway in direction the Cache
coordinate N 47° 49.284 E 010° 53.358.
Here you can admire the "travelling companions".
Following the path passing the Earthcache coordinates at N 47°
49.517 E 010° 53.696.
Look towards Schongau and enjoy the view. (Good weather conditions
help.).
Proceed along the path until you arrive at a place "marked by a
cross".

fast or the slow flowing part of river?
- The composition of the bank makes intense farming impossible.
Why?
- How can you tell the original slope was undercut and not steep as
it is visible today?

information board on, or at least so that it can't be read! Please
