Ship Lake Vista is a traditional cache in Ship Lake Pass between The Ramp and The Wedge.
The cache is located as you begin the hike from Ship Lake Pass up to the summit of The Wedge.
The cache is accessible from the Glen Alps Parking Area. From there you will hike or bike out to the Powerline Pass Trail. Once reaching the Powerline Pass Trail continue toward the pass until you reach the Hidden Lake Trail. If you rode your bike this far leave it locked up to the bridge or hidden along the trail in the bushes. THE HIDDEN LAKE TRAIL IS NOT A BIKE TRAIL!!! Hike up the Hidden Lake Trail toward the lake and the pass. As you cross the creek about half way up, take the trail off to the right to go directly to the pass. If you take the trail to the left you will end up at Hidden Lake or on the trail that goes up to The Ramp. From the creek continue up until you reach the pass and take in the view. To find the cache hike up toward the summit of the Wedge along the edge of the pass and the cache will be on your left in a rock outcropping. Ship Lake will be below, Avalanche Mountain in front, The Wedge up to the right, The Ramp up to the left and Anchorage down the valley behind you!!! The views from here are great.
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit No 11-007.
The cache may be winter accessible but you will need some tools!!!
The distance to the cache from Glen Alps is 6.25 miles.
The cache is a watertight cell phone dry box that measures 6 in x 1-5/8 in x 3 in.
The original contents of the cache include Ben's insect repellant towelette, lense cleaning towelette's, antibaterial towelette, the cache log and a pencil.
There is also an unactivated 'First to Find' micro coin for the FTF!!!
