Yattendon Yomp: 01 Traditional Geocache

This is one of a series of caches on a 4 mile loop from Yattendon to Ashampstead and back.
There are 19 caches in the series but others can be picked up on the way and are included into the route. There is a small crossover with Ofob’s fantastic AA series which if you haven’t done can be attempted at the same time as this one in a figure eight route. If you are planning on doing both series, the best place to park is by Ashampstead Church.
You should get to see plenty of animals, both domestic and wild while you are out and about.
The terrain: it is fairly easy going with hardly any slopes to climb or descend. Stretches of the route will get very muddy in winter or after heavy rain. There are a few styles in the early stages (assuming you start at number 01) which might make things difficult for our canine friends, but the second half is much easier going. Dogs will need to be kept on leads for significant sections, especially near the start as there are fields of sheep to walk through. Please be extra considerate during lambing season.
There is a range of cache containers, don’t get too disheartened in the early stages where the terrain dictated that micros were required. Larger containers for swaps and trackables are to come further on in the series! There is no bonus, so you can start anywhere. The series was set starting in Yattendon itself where there is plenty of parking and a couple of places to get drinks once you have finished or to stock up before you start.
