About St. Christopher's Church
Built: 1907
Architect: J C King
Listing: not listed
This is a small simple timber framed building built in 1907. The chancel was extended in 1930 by one bay width. The hand-made tiled roof is supported by 5 queen post roof trusses, the last and newest one constructed of laminated timber. There is a small bell turret at the west end with tile-hung sides and roof. Externally the church is clapboarded on a brick plinth. It has an interesting east window, being the artist's mock-up for a translucent coloured glass mosaic panel but unfortunately it proved too problematical and expensive to complete. Two extensions on the north side contain the organ chamber and vestry and a kitchen and lavatories both with external doors. Each is timber framed with a tiled roof although the lavatory extension has a felt flat. The church is set back from the road and is surrounded by hedges and mature trees, giving a a quiet and pleasant environment.
My two children attended the Mother and Toddler group in the adjacent Church Hall and my daughter now comes here for Guides and Judo.
There is a beautiful new memorial garden between the Church and its Hall for a kind-hearted local woman who helped those in need. Please pause and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Please do not park in the Church car park as it is quite small. There is plenty of off street parking nearby.
The cache is a micro cache located a short walk away from the Church. Please be careful if you use the footpath directly from the church as it is also used by vehicles. Alternatively you could walk back to the large roundabout and turn left, past the Hare and Hounds Public House and then follow your GPS. Near the cache can be a little muddy after rain and this also is used by horses and vehicles, so please take care.
The co-ordinates take you to a wooden noticeboard at the entrance to the car park for the church. At the bottom are two words. Only use these two words in the calculation below.
Number of letters in the first word = A
Number of letters in the second word = B
How many letter E's = C
How many letter O's = D
The cache can be found at

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list.
