Sleepy_hollow: I would like to thank everyone that attended either the Brass Cao Convention or this event at the Cameron LO for a very special day in the mountains. We might need to plan a similar experience for next summer - have a safe weekend and thanks again for attending!

Geocache Description:

While not everyone can go to Seattle for the Geocaching Block Party, so why not celebrate the 1st IGD (International Geocaching Day) with us at the Cameron Lookout! Travel to the LO involves travel along a fairly steep mountain trail with loose rock, tree roots, and at times some degree of exposure. Travel to the event by foot will involve a 12 - 13 km (round trip hike) with between 800 and 900 metres of elevation gain.

Event Description:

When: Saturday, August 20th, 2011 - 11:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. at the Cameron LO.

1. We suggest leaving the trailhead to reach the Cameron LO Building between 8:00 and 9:15 a.m. to be on time for the event and to find the caches along the trail on the way up. Please pace yourself for this unique Event by leaving early and taking as many rest breaks as you require. Be sure to review the hiker's checklist of supplies below to bring along on the trip.

2. The 1st IGD (International Geocaching Day) Event at the Cameron Lookout will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last for one hour until 12:30 p.m. All cachers logging the event need to sign the Event Logbook in the Cameron LO Building and then receive their Special Event Attendance Card.

3. Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. a Treasure Hunt will take place to find the GSC Survey Marker located beside the LO - the exact coordinates and description of the marker can be found at the bottom of this cache page. A First Edition Brass Cap Convention Geocoin will be given to the FTF of the Survey Marker in the Treasure Hunt Activity - so be sure to bring a metal detector, gloves, and a tape measure.

4. Refreshments will be served at 12 Noon in the form of a fruit punch or orange powdered beverage (which will be provided in a ziplock baggy with a stir stick - one per cacher) - cachers are asked to bring their own cups and water.

5. A group photo will be taken at 12:15 p.m. in front of the Cameron LO Building.

6. At 12:30 p.m. we will clean up the site and head back down to the trailhead. Be sure to stay with the group on the way down to enjoy the photo opportunities and caching stories from the trail!

N.B. Should poor weather require us to cancel the Event, a sign will be posted at the trailhead by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the Event - see the waypoint detail on this page for the trailhead coordinates.
