A sandwich sized lock N Lock hidden in a tree. with pins and a FTF prize. Please replace cache as found ensuring it is attached to the tree good so it does not become geotrash :)
The first cache in my Exploring Elkford Series. did not have enough room in the cache name to add that in.
I have always wanted to climb to the North summit of this mountain. It is perfectly framed by my parents front window, from where I have gazed up at it many times. My dad told me that there is a Path that takes you up towards the summit and that it is easy to get to the trail head. All I had to do was climb the ski hill!
My Dad is a very smart man. When I was a kid he always told us to STAY ON THE TRAIL, short cuts are almost always more work and still take as much time. Well even as an adult I guess I still do not Learn! Once I found the Single track at the top of the ski hill I almost immediately went off trail and started scrambling up a small chute! It was not a wise choice and I heard his voice in my head for the rest of the hike!
Needless to say I did not end up where I wanted to But the views from here are still top notch and worth the effort. But just a word of advice, stay on the trail till you are about West of the cache, on the back side of the mountain. Then its time to go UP UP UP! You will be navigating over large logs, rock and trees to get to GZ. But I had an awesome run/scramble this morning and from parking to top and back took me a little over 2.5 hours and a little shy of 6 KM. Well worth it in my opinion.
