This cache is on a less traveled part of Battle Creek Road.
Between Mud Flat Road and Blue Creek (at the pipeline) there are
many rough and primitive places in the BC Road. This cache is
placed in the middle of that section.
In addition to rough road, there are numerous potential water
hazards unless you're traveling in the dry season (mid-summer to
mid-fall). If coming up Battle Creek Rd from the southeast, there
are at least a couple creek crossings including Upper Battle Creek
Crossing. If coming down BC Rd from the northwest, there are
several stretches where Dry Creek (often not so dry) will flood the
road when running high. In any case, your rig needs to be able to
handle rough roads and potential water hazards.
In hunting down geocaches in the Owyhee Uplands, I noticed a
large swath of territory between caches in this area so I decided
to fill the gap with this cache. From the cache site enjoy the view
of the small Dry Creek valley. You'll likely see some wildlife,
too. This is a very remote area so take appropriate precautions.
Extra gas, food, & water are a good idea and maybe an extra
spare, as well. Also, be on the alert if there have been recent
rains.
The cache itself is a regular ammo can filled with a few toys
and some stuff that might come in handy in a remote spot like this.
It's a short walk from the road to the cache. Long pants are
recommended due to the many sage bushes. With the hints provided it
should be an easy find.
