This series of caches is located on the picturesque Lady Talbot
Forest Drive, just out of Marysville in Victoria.
This area was affected by the Black Saturday bushfire and
evidence of this can be seen along the whole drive, but regrowth
along the drive is a testiment to mother nature and the resilents
of the bush to regenerate itself.
Named after the wife of Sir Reginald Talbot, Governor of Victoria
between 1903 and 1908, Lady Talbot Forest Drive is a round-trip of
46 kilometres and takes about 2 hours if driven at a leisurely pace
without stops. |
Take the time to stop for a picnic
lunch, find a cache and a walk through a precious landscape of old
growth myrtle beech forest and waterfalls cascading over huge
granite boulders. Tall eucalyptus trees shelter peaceful tree fern
gullies and creeks lined with ferns and mosses.
Lady Talbot Forest Drive is an unsealed track, suitable for all
conventional vehicles in any weather up to The Beeches. In the
wetter months, a 4wd is more suited past The Beeches. Lady Talbot
Forest Drive follows a winding path through eucalyptus forest along
the Taggerty River. The drive begins a few minutes from Marysville,
approximately 500 metres east of the town’s centre on the
Marysville-Woods Point Road and continues through the Marysville
State Forest and the Yarra Ranges National Park.

easy to complete. You will find parking on the side of the road or
in designated carparks very close to each cache so enjoy the drive
