Geocache Description:

Stratton-Eustis Community Building, Stratton, Maine.

The fourth annual "Get Useless In Eustis" event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Eustis, Maine. The Eustis Community Building (coords are for there) has been reserved for that day and will serve as a meeting place. It will open at 7:00 AM for breakfast cooked by Team Richards, and will be open all day for hot coffee, cocoa etc. Dinner will be at 5:00 PM. The building will close whenever we're through. It has two restrooms, a large completely equipped kitchen, a stage, lots of tables and chairs. There will be a registration table (sign up for door prizes) and a TB/Geocoin swap table. NO alcoholic beverages are allowed and PLEASE, NO DOGS, especially at meal times! It will have the same format as other years (don't mess with succcess), so if you've been before there's no need to read on. But for people who are coming for the first time, keep reading...

We have also reserved the two group sites across the road from Cathedral Pines Campground which you may use for free. Group Site 1 is reserved for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and Group Site 2 is reserved for Friday and Saturday nights only. Or you may reserve (and pay for) your own site in the main campground by calling 207-246-3491. The group sites have fireplaces, picnic tables and outhouses but you may use any of the facilities at the main campgound. That has hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station for RVs, rec room, playground and a swim beach. You can also rent canoes and kayaks there. Alcoholic beverages and dogs are welcome at the campground. The weather can be chilly so plan accordingly. There will be a campfire each night at the group site and all are welcome to attend, camping or not. Not into camping? We have four motels and two B&Bs. Reserve early.

On Saturday at 8:00 AM, there will be at least ten new caches published. You can cache from Kingfield to Rangeley, Stratton to Chain of Ponds, even into Canada. Kayak, climb mountains, bounce up and down dirt roads, enjoy the foliage.

Saturday evening there will be a potluck dinner at 5:00 at the Community Building. Please bring something to share, meat dishes, casseroles, soups, stews and desserts of course! Anything to fill up hungry cachers who have been out in the woods all day. If you can't bring something cooked with you, you can cook there or bring big jugs of iced tea, ice cubes, soft drinks, or pick up a hot pizza. And after dinner, we draw for door prizes.

Here's a chance to visit or re-visit this lovely area, meet old friends and make new ones, talk shop, compare toys, kayak, hike, watch campfires and just have fun.

Any questions, please contact kayaking loon through Geocaching.com. I'll be happy to help you with any plans or arrangements. This is a beautiful area and we hope many of you can come to enjoy it.
