Geocache Description:

The GEOCACHERS OF EASTERN ONTARIO (GEO)
, with the support of South Nation Conservation (SNC), will be running a Cache In Trash Out event on Saturday April 30th, 2010. This cleanup will be focusing on cleaning up pre-selected sites along the shorelines of nearby creeks and rivers, as well as some conservation areas, trails, and forest properties.

The First SNCITO, held April 2010, was such a great day that we wanted to do it all again! GEO will be working hard between now and April to prepare for our big day. SNCITO2 will have everybody’s favourite breakfast again, and there will be plenty of new caches for you to find!

THE DETAILS:

MEET at Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area (Posted coordinates) for the Taste of the Nation breakfast, which will commence promptly at 8:00 AM. We are continuing to develop the breakfast menu, so check back on this page for updates in the coming weeks! (For those of you asking, yes, we want to keep the spectacular sausage on the menu!) This catered breakfast is FREE for all the participants in the CITO (Please indicate if you are RSVPing for more than one person). You will receive a voucher for breakfast from the registration station. If you are NOT planning to join us for 8:00 AM Breakfast, please “write note” on this page, so we know how much food to make!

From 8:40 AM to 8:50 AM geocachers will be separated (or separate themselves) into groups. These groups will be given a task cleanup site in the general vicinity. We will do our best to match up the difficulty of the pre-selected sites with the ambitiousness of the individual groups. Keep your eyes peeled for geocaches posted in this region just before the event, because "Cache In" is just as fun as "Trash Out"!

At 9:00 AM the groups will organize carpooling/travel arrangements to begin cleaning up their site. We would like everyone to return to Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area  around 1:15 PM. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch to eat (like after the CITO last year). We might have prizes for the picnic if we can find donors again.

Once the stragglers and “Did Not Find”ers have made their way back to Jessup’s Falls, we’ll pile up the trash and take a proud team picture (around 2:00). We must have set an Ontario CITO record last year with the amount of trash we collected in only a few hours! After the picture, GEO will announce the winners of raffles, prizes, and door prizes. Before leaving the Conservation Area, of course, we will CITO our area. Any geocachers not leaving right away to visit new geocaches are welcome to stay to meet and greet cachers from all walks of life.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP OUT? GEO could use your assistance! Let us know by posting on GEO’s forums. We could use some help with any (or all) of the following areas:
- locating additional suitable cleanup sites generally near Jessup’s Falls
- Hiding Geocaches to be released on April 30th (submitted in advance of the day with a note to reviewer to hold publication until April 28th)
- Assisting on the day of the event with Breakfast, Registration, CITO Site dispatch, and Other

While participating in SNCITO2, remember to wear appropriate footwear and gloves, and be careful when collecting the trash! You are responsible for your own safety!

PLEASE USE THE “WILL ATTEND” option to indicate how many people you are bringing out. This will help us plan our day. Be sure to check back on this page for updates!

Remember to BRING A CAMERA to post pictures to help describe your SNCITO2 experience when you log your “Attended” log.

You are encouraged to WATCH THIS LISTING for further updates before the event!

Jessup's Falls Conservation Area

UPDATE APRIL 26: SNCITO2 planning is on track. There are a few updates:

- If you logged a will attend, but now realize you will not be making it out (particularly for the breakfast), please let us know. We want to make sure we have the right amount of food!
- Reminder that event is rain or shine. Plan to dress appropriately for the weather. Rubber boots may be a good idea considering the rain expected leading up to the event!
- Breakfast is FREE for everyone. Please log your will attend so we know how many people we are feeding. If you are bringing anyone who isn't logging for themselves, please indicate how many you are feeding on the page.
- Over 40 new geocaches will be published for the "Cache In" half of this event!
- A link (with instructions) for Google imagery for recent models of Garmin GPS units in the form of a KMZ file (like last year). A link will be added to the listing here on Friday, April 29th.

NEW SNC GEOCOINS will debut for sale at SNCITO2 in Gold or Silver (polished Nickel). These new 2011 geocoins will be sold for $10.00 each, or 5 for $45.00. Some 2010 polished nickel coins will also be sold- If you don't have any, now is your chance to start collecting the set!

UPDATE APRIL 29: Imagery can be downloaded for the CITO sites, and some of the SNC forest properties with new geocaches. Download this from the GEO Website.
