Der Ursprung der Kirche zum heiligen St. Zeno reicht bis ins frühe Mittelalter zurück. Das ist aus dem noch bestehenden Unterteils des Turms ersichtlich. Nach 1200 wurde die Kirche erweitert, das kleine Seitenschiff wurde dazu gebaut. Zur heutigen Form gelangte die Kirche in den Jahren 1474 bis 1475, denn es erfolgte der Bau der gotischen Hallenkirche, mit den damals üblichen Rippengewölben. Verwendet wurde rötlicher Sandstein, sowie Laaser Marmor. Am Gewölbe des Kirchenschiffs zeugt das Wappen der Herren von Annenberg, auf deren Einfluss und Stiftung hin. Der achteckige Turm erhielt 1696 seine, der barocken Zeit angepassten Zwiebelturm. Dem Stil des Barocks wurde 1750 der Chor und der Altar angepasst. .

Durch eine Stiftung des Priors, des Kartäuser Klosters Allerengelsberg in Schnals erhielt die Kirche das Altarbild. Dieses zeigt uns Maria mit Christkind sowie die hl. Bruno und Zeno. Bruno war Begründer des Kartäuser Ordens. Zeno ist der Kirchenpatron gegen Wasserschäden. Ebenso abgebildet sind am Giebel die hl. Barbara, die hl. Katharina und Engel von Georg Forcher aus Naturns 1950.
