Geocache Description:

Congrats to Moscofamily on the FTF!!!
I went out to check on a former geocache that was supposed to be on this island, but it was a goner, along with the vegetation at the northern end of this island where the cache was supposed to have been.

Ever since I started caching, I have wanted to find the cache that was supposed to be on Pleasure Island. Fourth of July weekend 2011, my friend took my family out on his sailboat and agreed to take me to Pleasure Island to seek this cache. There was a DNF last year, so I brought a container to replace the cache, if I could find the actual location of the original cache Island Time.

I got there, and the spot where the cache was supposed to be was devoid of vegetation and it was clear that a LOT of work had been done recently to reclaim the end of this island. Well, I had this container, what should I do with it? I decided to place another one on this island. Since originally placing it, I replaced the crappy container with a waterproof box, still tied onto the back of the tree. It's high enough to stay out of the water. And then the cache kept going missing and this is a bit of a challenge to replace so I moved it to the other side of the island, and place a smaller container in a tree.

Of course, after I got home, I realized that Pleasure Island is part of Hart-Miller State Park and that I'd have to get approval. Fortunately, the Ranger was understanding of my placing the cache before it got approved. So, this cache is MD DNR approved!

There are a handful of waterfront restaurants on Cuckold Point Rd that may allow you to launch a kayak or a boat to get to this cache. Bill's Boats (9033 Cuckold Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21219) has a boat ramp that is available for a fee. Closest public boat ramp is just past 9114 Hinton Avenue, Sparrows Point, MD 21219 but you can't park there so you'll have to park a house or two away on 5th Street. That trek is about 0.9 miles one way. Another public launch ramp is Rocky Point County Park but that's about 1.5 miles away.
