We have found many caches in lamppost skirts. The most of any kind of urban hide, in fact. For those who don't know, lamppost skirts are the box-shaped decorative elements at the base of lampposts. They are usually found on lampposts in parking lots, covering the large nuts and bolts that hold the post to the concrete base. They tend to be made of aluminum or lightweight plastic and can be easily lifted to reveal a cache underneath. Because this can be done quickly, they are ideal for areas with heavy muggle traffic. This cache is a backhanded tribute to such caches everywhere.
We suggest stealth, as this location is visible from all directions. We placed this cache at night and felt safe in the area. If you visit during daytime, strategic placement of car and car door can help in this regard. Please replace as you found it and be sure to put the skirt all the way down before you leave. Anything else just wouldn't be proper. :) Have fun!
