Geocache Description:

A cache and dash located near to the ford at Beanford Lane, Oxton.

This is one of 700 Toad Crossings across the country!

Each year in March, the lane is closed to traffic to let the migrating frogs have a little love. An internet search brings up many archived news reports relating to this story. The water board used to fund the closure of the road, but in 2007 when they stopped a Russian businessman donated the £500 to close the road. In 2008, a local brewery brewed a special beer to raise the money. Since 2009, locals have raised the money themselves.

The cache contains some froggy swaps and our 'Freddie Frog' tavelbug who wants to travel to watery places to find a mate. More froggy type goodies would be great.

Parking can be found beside the road close to the cache.

Be careful of passing cars, though hopefully they will have slowed for the ford. Visit in March to be car free!
