The valley of the Sed
There is some beautiful little picturesque country, as the valley of the Sed Veszprem. Séd völgy
Kevés olyan festoi szép sziklavidék van hazánkban, mint a Séd völgye Veszprémben. A patak 60–80 méter mély völgyet vágott a dolomit fennsíkba, s szeszélyes kanyarulatokkal keresi a kitörési pontot. Festoi kanyarulatába, mintegy öblébe nyúlik bele délrol északra a veszprémi Várhegy és folytatása, a Szent Benedek-hegy. A Várhegynél alkalmasabb helyet megerosített középkori város építésére nem lehetett volna találni. Ide épült tehát Veszprém vára s körülötte - eloször csak mély völgyében, majd a fennsíkot is meghódítva – a település.
A Séd-völgyében sétálva nem csak a veszprémi táj vadregényes szépségben gyönyörködhetünk, hanem idoutazást is tehetünk a város ezer éves múltjának emlékeit felfedezve. Kevés magyar településnek van annyi történelmi vonatkozású muemléke, mint Veszprémnek. A görög apácák kolostorának a Betekints-völgyben megbúvó romjaitól, amely az államalapító Szent István király helykeresésérol regél, a tatárjárás viharait átélt Margit romokon keresztül, a török hódítás és az azt követo újjáéledés ezer emléke mesél a múltról.
