A CACHE
E pronto, tinha de ser... um pedregulho!
Num passeio de mais de 18 Km na Serra de Sintra e 50 caches, estavam todas ao nível do solo, ou quase, até aparecer este “calhau” de uns 20 metros de altura que não podíamos deixar escapar.
Esta é a única cache de todo o Power Trail em que o terreno apresenta dificuldade relevante pelo que deverá ser abordada com cautela, sobretudo em tempo molhado, não se recomendando a crianças, que podem ficar em baixo a observar os acontecimentos...
A boa táctica é não inventar... o acesso deve fazer-se pelo lado esquerdo,...
... por um local onde uma sucessão de rochas em escada permite uma ascensão progressiva até ao topo, sem dificuldades de maior, desde que respeitadas as devidas precauções... e boa escalada!
Pelo caminho, lá no alto, podem encontrar provas da permanência de animal com algum porte,... quiçá o nosso falcão peregrino que usa este poleiro para algumas actividades fisiológicas.
A cache não está no ponto mais alto e, por isso, a dica é fundamental para a encontrarem.
THE SKY IS THE LIMIT
Finally, it was unavoidable... a big boulder!
In a trail that stretches for more than 12 miles across the hills of Sintra, all the 50 caches are placed at, or close to, ground level, until we saw this "pebble" of about 66 feet high, that we couldn't let go unnoticed.
This is the only cache in the entire Power Trail, except for the Mystery, where the terrain presents a relevant difficulty and as such should be approached with caution, especially in wet weather. It is not recommended for children, who can stay down and watch the events from there...
Improvising isn’t a good tactic ... access should be by the left side…in a place where a succession of rocks form a natural ladder allowing a gradual ascent to the top, without major difficulties, provided you take the proper precautions... and have a good climbing!
On the way, up there, you can find evidences of a sizeable animal’s permanence… perhaps our peregrine falcon that uses this perch for some physiological activities.
The cache isn't on the highest point; therefore the hint is essential, in order to find it.
