Geocache Description:

Part of the Church Micro series of caches.

The sisterchurch of St.Julius & St.Aaron, Llanharan (GC2NRJQ) and comprising the parish of Llanharan with Peterston super Montem, St.Peter's Church, Brynna sits at the edge of the modern village, accessible from Church Street, just off the main road.

In about 1830, the old church on the mountain (Capel Llanbad - GC2NPGW) was abandoned and was moved to the more populous village of Brynna. Most cherished of all the relics brought down are the communion chalice and paten, first used in the reign of Elizabeth I.

The font and bell are also from the mountain church.

In 1882 Brynna church was repaired and reseated to afford a hundred sittings. During the repair of St.Peters stone from the hilltop church was conveyed in carts and used in the restoration.

The church reopened after months of closure earlier this year after modern renovations funded in part by a lottery grant.

You are looking for an above average-sized micro (still no room for swaps however). There is parking for a couple of cars directly outside the church and also a larger carpark between the nearby playing fields and the church which is clearly signposted.

Although this cache is set on a seemingly quiet rural lane, please keep an eye out for traffic.

If anyone would like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list.
