The German concentration camp Auschwitz is visited by more than one million people from all over the world each year. With this geocache we want to show you a place which is really close by, but not seen by many.
The cache is located near the area of a cemetery (~50 meters to the north from the cache) of ~700 prisoners which were too weak to walk many kilometers while Germans were evacuating the camp at the end of WW2, so they were simply murdered. There is also an individual grave there - a wife of one of the prisoners wanted to be buried by her husband (she died in 1959). The "square" monument close by records Russian soldiers killed while liberating the camp and the city. We would like you to have a small grave candle when you visit the place. Local muggles will not be suspicious and you will also be able to light this candle commemorating all the prisoners buried at this very place. The cache is conveniently located on the route from the camp to the railway station. You may park for free at N50°1.801 E19°12.243. You don't have to dig, nor to climb anywhere.
Niemiecki obóz koncentracyjny Auschwitz w Oświęcimiu ma co roku ponad milion zwiedzających z całego świata. Tym geocachem chcemy pokazać miejsce, które jest bardzo blisko, a mimo to niewielu je zna. Cache umieszczony jest przy terenie cmentarza (~50 metrów na północ) około 700 więźniów, którzy byli za slabi, by podjąć wielokilometrowy marsz podczas ewakuacji obozu przez Niemców, wiec po prostu zostali zamordowani. Chcielibyśmy, żebyś miał ze sobą znicz, kiedy przybędziesz na miejsce. Lokalni mugole nie będą niczego podejrzewać, a Ty będziesz mógł uczcić pamięć więźniów pogrzebanych w tym miejscu. Cache jest po drodze z obozu na dworzec PKP. Jest także bardzo blisko przystanków autobusowych. Możesz za darmo zaparkować na N50°1.801 E19°12.243. Nie musisz kopać, ani nigdzie wspinać się.
