Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a two cache series along with the geocache Hephaestus' Workshop.

Pandora's Box

In classic Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman on earth. Zeus ordered Hephaestus, the god of craftsmanship, to create her, so he did—using water and earth. The gods endowed her with many talents: Aphrodite gave her beauty, Apollo music, Hermes persuasion. Her name Pandora means "all-gifted." When Prometheus stole fire from heaven, Zeus took vengeance by presenting Pandora to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother. With her, Pandora had a jar which she was not to open under any circumstance. Impelled by her natural curiosity, Pandora opened the box-jar, and all evil contained escaped and spread over the earth. She hastened to close the lid, but the whole contents of the jar had escaped, except for one thing that lay at the bottom, which was Hope. Pandora was deeply saddened by what she had done, and was afraid that she would have to face Zeus' wrath, since she had failed her duty. However, Zeus did not punish her, because he knew this would happen.


The cache is not at the above coordinates, but it is close to where you will find it. However to get hold of the cache you will first need to find my Travel Bug "The key to Pandora's Box" which will have instructions on how/where to find the cache container.

The cache container is a puzzle box I have built. It has a locked lid. To log this cache you will need to figure out how to open the lid to sign the logbook inside. (you will need to take the cache with you to do this). To solve the puzzle you may also need the use of a computer and it may take 1 or more trips by car in the Campbell River area.

Once you solve the puzzle and sign the log book you will need to return the cache container to where you got it from and then place the TB The key to Pandora's Box in a local cache or return them both to where you found the cache box. Passing the cache and TB to another cacher may be done if the cache owner is notified that this is happening.  Please keep the TB with you while you have the cache and release it after you replace the cache. You may also leave the TB with the cache when you return it, and I will release it again.
