Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series highlighting invasive species in the CRD. Many of these species are now so common, you probably see them every day. Some are damaging, others are a nuisance, but none are native to Victoria. Each cache will contain one digit in the coordinates for the final, GC2VRDP.
All caches are 1 litre, 5”x8”x2.5” Lock’n’Locks.


Eastern Grey squirrel
Latin name: Sciurus carolinensis
Native region: Eastern United States
Introduced region: England, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, Western Canada
Reason for introduction: Escape from game farm in Metchosin
Threats: Spreading of disease to native squirrel species, stripping and eating tree bark

The Eastern Grey Squirrel has become so common in the Victoria area that you may have never seen a native squirrel.
