One of a short series of caches around
historic sites on the Isle of Skye
Dunvegan Castle, since time immemorial the seat of the Clan Macleod, is the most important and most renowned of the secular buildings in the Hebrides, and the only one to have been continuously occupied by the same family across seven centuries. Within the castle can be viewed that famous relic, the 'Fairy Flag', which is said to have magical properties.
The castle overlooks Loch Dunvegan, across which the flat-topped summits of Macleod's Tables rise majestically. The loch itself is studded with low-lying islands, which are popular with seals and birdlife.
The cache is located a short distance north of the castle, and just a short uphill distance from the road to the Coral Beach. It can be grabbed [almost] as a drive-by, as there are plenty of places nearby to park - in fact, they are great places to spend time birdwatching.
