4 islas..
..or a demanding hike's reward
Thanks to team Torimaro for the wonderful photo
A place with a view
If you're short on time or otherwise not inclined to do much hiking, you can just drive to the suggested parking coordinates, from where the box is just a short stroll away.
The stunning view of La Graciosa and the other northern neighbors of Lanzarote from high above (~400m!) will be yours to enjoy anyway.
Hiking opportunities
This place is an invitation to follow the small flow lava from La Corona that went down westwards over the ridge of the Risco de Famara cliff, while the bulk of it made the much longer journey to the east shore. Doing so, it formed the extensive lava badland Mailpais de la Corona which includes the magnificent lava tunnel that is home to the Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua, the latter an absoute must-see for visitors to the island.
The steep, zig zag downhill path takes you to the foot of the cliff. There, you can walk northwards to the wonderful lonely playa del risco beach and further on to see the abandoned saline Salinas del Rio. Or turn south and take the long, demanding path all the way to Famara, which is a challenge. Both for your physical condition and, more so, your courage. At least for part time heroes like myself. The path gets very narrow at times, with a huge cliff above you and a huge drop beneath. Maps will tell you there is no way, but there is.
The Famara tour also works in the other direction, you would just have to organize a pick up or call a taxi when you're there, probably best into Ye.
In any case, if you come for a hike, be sure to bring enough water and good shoes!. Also consider that the way up takes considerably longer than the way down, and that you'll want to have enough daylight left. If in doubt, bring a good flashlight with sufficient battery.
Guardian
Apart from a friend of mine who lives in Playa Planca, the cache also has a local local guardian, dubbed Lanzi by team Calando after team djomka had already established good relations to the geocaching community by offering him (her?) a drink. If you see Lanzi, please say hello and share some of your water :)

Warning: As peaceful as the location seems, the parking lot apparently has a burglary problem! One fellow cacher's car has already been robbed and there are regular reports of glass shards and broken windows on other cars.
Strong advice to leave no valuable objects in open view when leaving your car. Maybe even write and display a note like No hay dinero ni objetos de valor en el coche. No vale la pena. (No money nor valuables in the car. Don't bother.) . |

There is a local cache guardian, whose name and contact info are on file with geocaching.com.
