Geocache Description:

A cache on the far north-eastern face of Mount Jerrabomberra.

Part of the Jerra series.

The Area
Mount Jerrabomberra (technically a hill 'cause it's under a thousand metres) is a bush reserve between the suburb of Jerrabomberra to the south west and Karabar to the east and north east. The mountain was donated to Queanbeyan in 2003 by the private company Woden Contractors.

The mountain has a variety of wildlife including grey kangaroos, rosellas, crows and other birds, and spiders. Oh so many spiders.

The GZ has a great view of Karabar and Queanbeyan, and directly overlooks the old quarry, which will eventually be the Scar and BMX Trails Track, currently under construction (see the photos below).

Getting There
The fastest way to reach the GZ is to park on Southbar Rd. A very rocky gravel track leads up the mountain and curves southwards (you may pass some dumped furniture -see the photo below. Some people are pigs). You will eventually have to leave the track to reach the GZ however. Bring a long stick - the spider whose web I walked through to get the GZ was the size of my hand, I kid you not - see the photo below.

If you're a real masochist, you could approach the GZ from the other side of the mountain. There are several caches on and around Mt. Jerra, so making it part of a day caching expedition would be a goer.

The Cache
The cache is a standard medium sized clip-lock tupperware-type container inside a polyester camouflage bag (which might make it slightly more difficult to spot). It's not a hard find - please make sure to reconceal it well!

The cache contains the usual pencil and notebook as well as a special LEGO First To Find minifig, as with all my Jerra caches so far.
