Geocache Description:

This is a small/regular sized clip-box with black tape on the lid. Very easy as a cache and dash, and hopefully will lead you on to do the fantastic Beacon Hill circle. Please place back and hide as well as you can.

There is a pull in for 1 car at the cache site, but please do not stay for long as it is a private entrance to a field.

You do not have to go past the gate that has the private properly notice.

Please beware this is a busy road.

If you are combining this with the Beacon Hill walk (which I thoroughly recomend), then after coming out from Beacon Hill 8, take a left along the road, it is on the left. Double back on yourself to get back to the Beacon Hill walk.

Alternatively if you are driving, this is an easy cache and dash, but I strongly recomend doing the Beacon Hill circle walk if you have the time. Parking for this circle is just down the road at: N51 12.708 | W2 31.253.

The road you are on is called Old Frome Road, and is a road running from Wells to Frome. This road passes through Horrington, Chantry and Whatley before finally coming out in Frome. There is now a much larger road that runs between them, through Shepton Mallet, the A361/A371. But the higher road is much more picturesque.

Interestingly, at around the half way point, the road changes name, and becomes the Old Wells Road as you get closer to Frome! Obviously, if you are coming from Frome you are going to Wells, but if you are coming from Wells you are going to Frome. Perhaps confusing but it makes some sense.

Lots of good views along this road and a good detour if you have the time, but the traffic can come along her at high speed to watch out, especially if you have little ones with you.

Please replace with any camo you can find to cover it.

I'm currently looking for people who might be able to help look after my caches whilst I'm away undertaking a doctorate. If you think you might be able to help, please do let me know by contacting me at geocachingjohn@googlemail.com (If you can't help maintain them long term, it would be wonderful if you could take along some spare logs/pencils/etc. to keep these caches alive, just in case)
