Location:
Djúpavatn (The Deep Lake) is a popular fishing lake among family people. It is 0.15 km² in size and its deepest part is 16.7 meters. Djúpavatn is 195 meters above sea level.
No fish was in the lake until 1960 when a portion of char stock from Þingvallavatn (Þingvellir's Lake) was put in Djúpavatn.

Getting to the Cache (Road 428):
In the summer time the road is well passable, but look out for those big rocks!
In the winter time the road is only passable on 4x4 jeeps or vehicles that have high ground clearance.
Passenger rental cars (2WD and 4WD) are not allowed to drive on to this road.
