Geocache Description:

The cache is placed to bring the seeker to the site of one of the many hidden holy sites in the Armenian countryside. Most of these are entirely off the beaten track and unvisited by tourists. It's a proper hike, but well worth it!

The hike is fairly long and often steep along very rocky doubletrack. It's difficult but possible to mountain-bike there if you are very fit; allow a whole day to ride from Yerevan via Yeghvard and back again. Yeghvard is also the natural starting point for reaching this cache by public transport (mashrutka); allow several hours to hike there and back from this town.

If you have a 4x4 it's also possible to park down the valley, driving off-road to reach the beginning of the trail, but expect to continue to hike for 45 minutes to an hour to reach the site at over 2,000m altitude.

The cache is a tiny jam-jar. It's not within the cavern itself, but a few metres away amongst some rocks. Once the area has been identified it should be simple to find the cache. It contains a log and a box of matches - bring your own candle!

Be careful of the steep and treacherous terrain, and plan for colder weather than in Yerevan, it's more than a kilometre higher in elevation here. The weather can change quickly so bring waterproofs if there's any chance of rain.
