SCP #2 - The Pimple Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

chiptheduck: Sadly the area has been trashed/burnt. The Pimple (a large strange projection from a tree stump) has gone and the hiding place (beneath it) is no more.

As this is one quarter of a 4 cache circular walk (3 + bonus) I will have to archive them all as the bonus can't be found without the code in this cache.

However, this leaves Stanmore Country Park open for others to infest with geocaches if they wish :-) (subject to Harrow Council agreement which was willingly provided to me).

Geocache Description:

This cache can be completed on its own or as part of a circular four cache series in Stanmore Country Park which will take an hour to an hour and a half.

The cache is a clip & lock containing log book, pen & room for trackables & small swaps.

This cache, SCP #1 (GC2TPYK) & SCP #3 (GC2TQ3K) also contain information to help you find the final cache, Chip's Challenge Bonus Cache (GC2TQ50).

If attempting the series firstly solve the additional puzzles on the Chip's Challenge cache page.

There is free parking at N51° 37.234 W000°18.522 until 4.30 pm daily which makes a good starting point.

Alternatively there is an entrance to the park at Kerry Avenue, N51° 37.334 W000°18.259, which is close to Stanmore Jubilee Line station but there is no free parking here.

This is hardly a park. There is no playground, no flowerbeds, lawns or park benches - just unspoilt natural oak and hornbeam woodland interspersed with areas of grassland alive with rabbits, jays and occasional muntjac deer.

The first three caches can be attempted in any order, although they form a circular walk finishing at the final cache if you complete them in numerical order. Clues to the location of the final cache, Chip's Challenge, are to be found inside the lid of each cache and in the front of the logbooks. But don't forget to study the details of the final cache before you leave home as the information you collect will be insufficient in itself.

This cache, and the others in the series, are all close to well trodden paths although they can become muddy in winter. They are suitable for children and dog walkers, but are not pushchair or wheelchair accessible. Some of the woodland is quite thick so may affect your GPS signal. If in doubt stay on the paths.

When crossing the open area take a look at the view. On a clear day you not only get a great view of Wembley Stadium but you can also see the London Eye and the BT Tower on the horizon.

Note that there is a small stream to cross to get to this cache but there are several easy crossing places if you follow the paths.

Stanmore Country Park is designated as a Local Nature Reserve (for good reason) - please respect the environment.

Thanks to the London Borough of Harrow who are responsible for the area for giving permission to place the four caches in this series.
