Note: As I walked by on 21st May 2011 I saw that there are cows with calves in the field containing the cache so please take extra care.
You will need tweezers to retrieve the logbook.
I'd been thinking for a little while that it was a shame there wasn't a geocache to bring people to see the famous "Trainer Tree" near Stokenchurch (or "Shoe Tree" as my daughter correctly tells me is more accurate). So, I decided to fix this by placing a cache myself.
Some important points:
- The tree itself (though not the cache) is located along a very busy main road. Please take extra care especially if you choose to do this with children.
- Cache is located near the public footpath in the adjacent field and does not involve the tree itself.
- You can park up the road towards Stokenchurch in the layby and then either walk along the road (about 10-15 minutes) or enter the fields from here and hunt for other local caches at the same time.
- Alternatively, there are closer car parks in Studley Green if you happen to be using the facilities they're attached to (swings, garden centre, cafe).
- There is no pencil. Please bring your own.
- There is not much room. Perhaps enough for 1 geocoin. Not sure about that though.
- When you think you've found the cache please take care to open it as indicated and ensure it's put back exactly as you find it.
A little more information on the Trainer Tree can be found in this article from the BBC.
Congratulations to Barkinupthewrongtree for the FTF!
