Geocache Description:

Please be stealthy and keep alert (as always in the city). Cops patrol around here quite a bit, so avoid looking TOO suspicious.... (hence an extra 1/2 star to an already tough cache).

Nearby subways: 155th St. (C), 157th St. (1), and 155th St. (D).

Hunting for this cache will bring you to the northern side of the Trinity Church Cemetery in the northern part of Manhattan, at the border of Washington Heights and Harlem. While Trinity Church proper was/is down in the southern tip of Manhattan, its graveyard got filled up so quickly that they had to acquire more space WAY on the north side (this area was the boonies back in the day).

Make sure to take a walk around the cemetery/ mausoleum. You can get a nice view of the Church of Intercession, a cool old cathedral built in 1872. Plus, the NW corner of the cemetery has some great old memorials/statues, not to mention a fantastic magnolia tree.

One famous interree is Eliza Jumel (1775-1865), who has a pretty colorful history (prostitute, NY socialite, black widow, wife to Aaron Burr, etc....). Make sure to head over to the nearby Morris-Jumel Mansion, now a city park (N 40° 50.06 W 073° 56.316). This is supposedly the oldest house still standing in Manhattan (built in 1765), having once served as headquarters to George Washington during the Revolutionary War. It is hard to believe this place when you see it, plus it is supposedly haunted (always a plus for creepy mansions) and has a bunch of great caches nearby too.

Also note a nearby campus of Boricua College, which is a pretty neat institution geared towards higher education for Puerto Ricans and other hispanic groups in NYC.

Please make sure to put the cache back where you found it (given the terrain rating).
