The 9th Annual ‘Cache In Trash Out’, CITO, takes
place across the Geocaching world this weekend and. I have
organized an event here in North Devon to tidy one small beach as
our little contribution to the massive problem of litter that
washes up on our shores.
Working in the environmental industry I can provide paper
pickers and bin bags and I have access to disposing safely the
mainly plastic bottles and containers that we are likely to
collect. Find the green Geovan, TB33ZA7, where you'll find us with
the event logbook and all the equipment. All we ask you to bring
are strong footwear (for walking on loose rocks), gloves and
enthusiasm.
Welcombe Mouth is a quiet and isolated location with the minimum
of facilities. There is a car park at the co-ordinates given and
access to it is via a dirt track. I will be bringing hot and cold
water for drinks and some snacks to keep us all going. However,
there is a pub at Welcombe itself (waymaked) were you are welcome
to join us after the event for drinks and food.
The tide will be low during the event.
We found the beach to be in a rather clean state, but we managed to
collect 10 bags of litter and one car bumper, but sadly no shopping
trolleys!
