A.H. Stephens Historic Site
Cache information: Steward: junmy3 Park: A.H. Stephens Historic Site Cache type: Multi Difficulty: 2 Terrain: 1.5
Cache Description: This is a 4 stage multi cache. You must visit each stage posted in the additional waypoint section below. At each stage you will gather a part of the 4 digit combination that unlocks the ammo can that is placed at the posted coordinates. (Inside the office). The cache is only available during operating hours. This historic site hours are Friday - Sunday, from 9 AM - 5PM. Last tour starts at 4PM. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years day. There is a $2.75 - $4 fee to enter the site. You will have to take a guided tour. You will need at least 1.5 - 2 hours to find this cache depending on the availability of the rangers. Paper and a writing instrument will prove useful as you gather information for the combination. This Geocache will be visited by non/new geocachers. It's recommended that you don't leave trackables in the Geocache. Stage 1.* YYou will find two displays with long guns (not pistols). How many long guns do you see? You can verify this number by counting the number of swords in another display. This number of long guns = “A” Stage 2. You will have to find a park ranger and request a full tour. Keep an eye on your GPS so you know when you are at stage two. What year was Mr. Stephens' Gas Machine that didn’t burn gasoline patented? Add all the digits in the year together and you will come up with a two digit number. Now add those two digits together. This number = “B”. Stage 3. You will be looking at what was once the highest point in the county. How many gallons of water does the tank inside the tower hold? Take the number of gallons and add those digits together and you will come up with a two digit number. Now add those two digits together. This number = “C”. Stage 4. You will see a building and a rather unique name engraved just above the door. One letter seems to be out of place. Count all the letters of the name and then subtract one for the misplaced letter. This number = “D”. The combination for the lock is “ABCD”. Now that you have learned a bit about A.H. Stephens Historic Site, head on into the office and open the Geocache. If you trade for items from the geocache, remember to trade for something that is of equal or greater value.

How to Hit the History Trail: The History Trail crosses the entire state and features 14 new Historic Sites and Historic Parks! Each site has multiple locations that you will need to visit in order to solve several clues. Once they are solved and you’ve figured out the secret combination, to unlock the geocache, you’ll collect your History Trail Trading Card. (Please take only one.The card corresponds to the site and the historic group to which it belongs. Each historic group has multiple cards (Native Americans has 4 cards, Forts has 3 cards, Historic Homes has 2 cards, Plantations has 3 cards, Museums/Battlefields has 2 cards.) When you’ve completed a set (either by visiting or trading) you can turn them into a Ranger to receive your custom souvenir tokens! Since there are 5 historic groups, you can collect all 5 souvenir tokens!
