Geocache Description:

Fort King George Historic Site
Cache information: Steward: Gunguy&fam Park: Fort King George Historic Site Cache type: Multi Difficulty: 2 Terrain: 1.5
Cache Description: This is a 3 stage multi cache. You must visit each stage posted in the additional waypoint section below. At each stage you will gather a part of the 4 digit combination that unlocks the ammo can that is placed at the posted coordinates. (Inside the office). The geocache is only available during operating hours. Tues-Sat (closed Tuesday when open on Monday) 9AM-5PM, the park is closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day). There is a $3.50 - $6.00 (depending on age) fee to enter the park. Be sure to obtain a walking tour map, it may be helpful. You will need 15-20 minutes to visit the stages and open the ammo can. Paper and a writing instrument will prove useful as you gather information for the combination. This Geocache will be visited by non/new geocachers. It's recommended that you don't leave trackables in the Geocache. Stage 1. You should be entering the museum room. In the museum (on the left side) is information about Bessie Lewis who discovered this site from local maps. There are two dates listed in the information adjacent to Bessie. Take the 3rd digit of the most recent year. That number = "A". Stage 2. You will find an interpretive sign, (not the historic marker). There are a number of "features" that are listed on the sign. These are the subject of the sign and it describes the different types of these that were in this area throughout the history of the site. How many are highlighted and discussed with dates on the sign? This number = "B". Stage 3. This stage has 2 parts. First, at the highest point on this structure, look South. There will be sign that points out all of the islands names that are within sight. On the top right corner of the sign are 2 islands with 1 name. Look at the first word in that name, how many letters are in it? This number = "C". Second, you will find a number of cannons that are housed on the second floor of this same structure. How many do you see inside of the structure? This number = "D". At the posted coordinates ask for the geocache and open the lock using “ABCD” for the combination. If you trade for items from the geocache, remember to trade for something that is of equal or greater value.

Reservations required at least one week in advance. Group tours consist of a one-hour living history presentation on a soldier's life and a weapons demonstration. Picnic area and bus parking available.

Each site has multiple locations that you will need to visit in order to solve several clues. Once they are solved and you’ve figured out the secret combination, to unlock the geocache, you’ll collect your History Trail Trading Card. (Please take only one.The card corresponds to the site and the historic group to which it belongs. Each historic group has multiple cards (Native Americans has 4 cards, Forts has 3 cards, Historic Homes has 2 cards, Plantations has 3 cards, Museums/Battlefields has 2 cards.) When you’ve completed a set (either by visiting or trading) you can turn them into a Ranger to receive your custom souvenir tokens! Since there are 5 historic groups, you can collect all 5 souvenir tokens!
